Twelve Ouarzazate children discover the Moroccan seaside. For the second year in a row, six girls and six boys chosen for their excellent athletics results and responsible attitude were rewarded with a two-week holiday in a summer camp beside the sea in Safi.
The Moroccan association Tamesloht presided by Amine Kabbaj, a long-standing MDS competitor, organizes summer camps each year.
The partnership with SMDS gave these twelve young sports competitors the chance to discover the sea for the first time in their lives.
They enjoyed swimming in the sea, sailing courses and learning about road security.
Three of the children talked about their experience:
Ali OUAZIZ / 10 years old: "I really enjoyed bathing in the sea twice a day with a break in the middle. I liked the equipment that the sports centre gave us, like the pillow and blanket. "
Chaima AITBENALI /11 years old: "sea water stings, and I was scared of the waves at first. We did some music activities too. I made a new friend, Meriam, who lives in Marrakech"
Riham Janah/9 years old: " I like my bed best because I can see the ceiling and at the summer camp we slept in bunk beds; I swallowed some sea water when a big wave came; thankfully, we ate lots of fruit afterwards, especially oranges. "
